(06/02/2004) Agfa implements multi-site integrated CR/PACS solution at Dutch hospital group
Cost-benefit analysis indicates Agfa as most suitable partner for Meander Medisch Centrum
Mortsel / Belgium, February 6, 2004
Meander Medisch Centrum, Amersfoort, The Netherlands, has selected Agfa to implement a complete CR (Computed Radiography) and a full-blown PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) system at its two sites in Amersfoort, as well as to integrate these systems with the existing Agfa CR and PACS solutions at the Baarn and Soest sites. Says Ms. T.S. Bouhuijs-de Jong, Manager of the Amersfoort sites: 'A cost-benefit analysis by the business consultancy company Cap Gemini Ernst & Young indicated that Agfa was the best choice as far as reliability, availability, workflow efficiency and ease of use are concerned.'
At Baarn and Soest, Agfa's CR (ADC(tm) Compact and ADC Solo) and PACS (IMPAX BASIX(tm), IMPAX WEB1000(tm) and three DS 3000 diagnostic workstations) solutions have been operational since 2001. The current project concerns the installation at the two Amersfoort sites of three ADC Compact and five ADC Solo systems, two DRYSTAR(tm) 4500 imagers and a full-blown IMPAX(tm) solution. Another part of the project is the migration of the Baarn IMPAX BASIX to IMPAX and the seamless integration of PACS at the four sites of Meander Medisch Centrum.
During the RFP (Request for Proposal) phase, a cost-benefit analysis by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young pointed to Agfa as the best available vendor. The analysis determined that for this project the Agfa solution met all requirements as far as reliability, availability, workflow efficiency and ease of use are concerned.
Meander Medisch Centrum, a 982-bed hospital group with four medical sites in central Holland, employs over 3,000 people and has 200 medical specialists. The hospital group has a solid reputation in The Netherlands. Implementation of ADC and IMPAX at the Amersfoort sites and the integration with the Baarn and Soest sites is to be completed in the summer of 2004.
