(20/02/2004) Agfa's strong project management competence decisive for Belgian CHR Tournai
Agfa implements 1.15 million euro integrated digital imaging and workflow management solution
Mortsel / Belgium, February 20, 2004
The Centre Hospitalier Régional du Tournaisis (CHRT), Tournai, Belgium, has chosen Agfa to go digital with a complete array of integrated CR (Computed Radiography), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and RIS (Radiology Information System) solutions at both of its sites, the Site Hôpital and the Site Dorcas. The total value of the project amounts to 1.15 million euros. CHRT management chose Agfa for its proven integrative competence and its reputation as a stable and reliable partner delivering strong project management.
When CHRT decided to go digital, it decided to digitize the entire workflow all the way, from data acquisition to image distribution. It chose Agfa to implement a complete and seamlessly integrated system for medical image management, comprising 2 ADC(tm) Solo digitizers, 2 CR 75 digitizers, 2 ADC QS servers, 6 identification stations, 3 DRYSTAR(tm) 5500 printers, a complete Agfa RIS with 7 dictation stations of which 2 with speech recognition. The RIS will be integrated with a full-blown IMPAX(tm) PACS with 7 DS 3000 diagnostic workstations featuring the Voxar 3D software, an IMPAX WEB1000(tm) server for web-based image distribution, and 2 CD-ROM burners. This way, patients can take a CD to their referring doctor with the results of their radiology examinations.
'We wanted one partner to implement all digital imaging and workflow management solutions,' says Dr. Frans Vermaut, Chief Radiologist at CHRT. 'Agfa has a proven competence in integrating this whole array of solutions and has the solid reputation of being a stable and reliable partner that is able to manage projects in a professional way as planned.' The implementation of all the solutions is scheduled to be completed in 5 months from the ordering.
In 1999, the fusion of the Clinique La Dorcas et l'Hôpital Civil led to the creation of the Centre Hospitalier Régional du Tournaisis or CHRT. The 406-bed public hospital employs about 1000 people. The two sites of the hospital are at about 1 kilometer distance from each other at the city of Tournai in the South-West of Belgium.
