(08/04/2004) AGFA-GEVAERT : Two IMPAX(tm) for Cardiology projects to be implemented in the UK
The University Hospitals of Leicester and North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust choose Agfa's unique IMPAX for Cardiology Solution
Mortsel / Belgium, April 8, 2004
Agfa has been awarded two important contracts for implementation of its IMPAX for Cardiology solution at NHS Trust hospitals in the UK. IMPAX for Cardiology linked to the existing Radiology PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) will provide these hospitals with the connectivity and integration required to improve the delivery of clinical care from one single point of access—the cardio workstation. Agfa's IMPAX for Cardiology is unique in offering cardiologists a dedicated image and information system adapted to their specific working environment (multi-modality image review and results management) while seamlessly integrating into the enterprise-wide PACS.
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust comprise three hospitals based in Leicester: Glenfield Hospital, Leicester General Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. The Trust is one of the largest teaching hospitals in the United Kingdom, with nearly 10,000 staff. The main site for cardiology is Glenfield Hospital. IMPAX for Cardiology will integrate with the existing Radiology IMPAX components installed within the Trust.
The North Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust operates all NHS hospitals in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole and currently employs over 4,700 staff. The IMPAX for Cardiology solution will be enterprise-wide by mid Summer 2004.
IMPAX for Cardiology was designed with the image review and reporting needs of today's busy cardiologists in mind. The solution is enterprise-enabled making it possible to access images and information from any department within the wider IMPAX system from one single point of access. IMPAX for Cardiology seamlessly integrates with existing Radiology PACS systems or can be used as a stand-alone departmental solution depending on the specific workflow requirements of the cardiology department.
