(15/06/2004) IBA (Ion Beam Applications) Actual transfer of the Sterilization & Ionization activity

June 15, 2004 - Transfer of the Sterilization & Ionization activity at a company value of 311.5 million dollars. - Focus on the cancer diagnosis and therapy markets. LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE, BELGIQUE, June 15, 2004 - IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A.: Reuters IOBAt.BR and Bloomberg IBAB.BB) confirms the closing of the sale of its Sterilization and Ionization activity to Prudential Portfolio Management (PPM Ventures) and PPM America Capital Partners. This transfer, which has been approved by the American authorities responsible for monitoring competition, takes effect today. As previously announced, the company value is USD 311.5 million. The activity will be consolidated in the IBA accounts up to the date of transfer. The sale of the Sterilization & Ionization activity is the consequence of a strategic choice by IBA to refocus on its historic activity and to finance its activities with greater growth which are cancer diagnosis and therapy technologies as well as sterilization and ionization equipment. This transaction also makes it possible to generate a liquid assets surplus and the net cash position currently expected is around 100 million euros. The final value will be determined only after the accounting closure relating to the transfer.
