(13/02/2004) AGFA-GEVAERT : Spanish Hospital Miguel Servet, Zaragoza, partners with Agfa in 3.4 million euro pro

Agfa gains contract thanks to partnership attitude Mortsel / Belgium, February 13, 2004 The 1,345-bed Hospital Miguel Servet, Zaragoza, Spain, has selected Agfa to implement a comprehensive CR (Computed Radiography) solution set and deliver maintenance services and dry film over a period of five years. The total project value is 3.4 million euros. 'Agfa has proven to us in the past that it is a real partner thinking along with its customers and helping them to solve their problems even when outside the scope of the specific project parameters,' says Ms. Luisa María Noeno Ceamanos, General Manager of the hospital. Miguel Servet is the largest hospital in the Autonomous Community of Aragón, and a reference hospital for healthcare centers throughout the Autonomy. With its decision to make the transition to digital imaging, purchasing 12 ADC(tm) digitizers, 12 ID stations, 8 DRYSTAR(tm) 5500 and 4 DRYSTAR 2000 dry imagers, it intends to increase radiography efficiency and establish a growth path for a completely digital environment at the three sites of the hospital and at its dependent centers. In addition, the ever-growing sensitivity to ecological issues in Spain was one of the key factors in the hospital's decision for transitioning from wet to dry film. Hospital Miguel Servet performs 271,000 radiology examinations each year. Hospital Miguel Servet has been an Agfa customer for years. 'Our relationship with Agfa has grown to be very strong,' says Ms. Luisa María Noeno Ceamanos. 'Agfa was the only vendor capable of offering the complete package, including equipment, cassettes, dry film and professional services during five years.' The Zaragoza-based public Hospital Miguel Servet groups three hospitals on the same campus: the General Hospital, the Traumatology Hospital and the Pediatric and Obstetric Hospital (Materno-Infantil). It employs over 5,000 people, 965 of which are doctors, providing healthcare to a population of 530,000 inhabitants. It counts over 1 million visits and 200,000 emergency visits a year.
