(10/06/2004) AGFA wins European Frost & Sullivan 2004 Healthcare Imaging Industry Product of the Year Award for I
IMPAX imaging information management system acknowledged for successful integration with existing RIS, HIS and computerized patient records in sites across Europe
Mortsel (Belgium), June 10, 2004 - Agfa HealthCare has been awarded the Frost & Sullivan 2004 Healthcare Imaging Industry Product of the Year Award for its IMPAX imaging information management system. The win, which primarily “recognizes a company's successful adoption or invention of a new technology that has been initiated within the past year to become part of its well designed product family' is the third Frost & Sullivan healthcare award Agfa HealthCare has achieved in recent months.
Citing the reasons for the award Frost & Sullivan said, “Agfa's IMPAX PACS has developed into a well accepted image management solution for healthcare providers' medical imaging departments. Conceptualized as a system for the radiology department, IMPAX today is seen as an essential component to modern digital cardiology and orthopaedic departments and with developmental work going on in pathology, mammography and ophthalmology requirements, will soon encompass all image management functions as an enterprise image management system for healthcare providers. Frost & Sullivan appreciates IMPAX's truly innovative capabilities, which with a high market acceptance has propelled Agfa's HealthCare group to the top position in the European imaging information management systems market.'
Frost & Sullivan went on to add that, “Agfa has taken an edge over the market competitors by successfully integrating its IMPAX PACS with existing radiology information systems (RIS), hospital information systems (HIS) and computerized patient records at several project implementation sites in Europe.'
Commenting on the award, Marketing Manager HealthCare Europe, Marcus Ostländer said, “We are truly gratified to win this third award from Frost & Sullivan, coming as it does so quickly after our previous two awards. We are particularly delighted that in recognising IMPAX - which has been created through our extensive product development experience, our understanding of departmental workflows, and enhanced by recent alliances with niche developers of allied technology solutions - that our leadership in PACS integration has been acknowledged.'
